BMFA British National Model Flying Championships 2017 R/C Scale Event

Back from the Best Nationals Held at RAF Barkstone  heath   that  I  have  Ever    had   even though I   did   not   win   my class, Fantastic   weather  😃   ( Sun Burnt too )..   Great social evenings   with   CD   Chris Allen   Top chef & mine host, And mornings too   sharing my camping stove   With Alex Kennedy   & David Charles,  plenty of Banter & mirth to be had ...   I entered Flying only class this year with My Westland Wyvern that is modified from the artf   50cc   Black horse model, this one   is powered by a Laser 300V.   As my F4c Hawker Hurricane has not   yet been re maidened after it's rebuild following a landing accident .. Flying   wise   from my club I placed   3rd in the flying only class   with the Wyvern, My best mate Dave Knott entered F4c class  I was his flight option caller,  In a hard fought  contest that could have seen Dave Toyer, Mick Reeves, Dave  Womersley  Or John Carpenter  had his Static score been more realistic take the honours Dav
I had been ask to help sort though a loft full of vintage models & engines  Of a good friend of mine  who is now no longer able to take part in this hobby,   One of the the models found is this Skyleader  skymaster,  this may have been one ex  Skyleader display team aircraft  as Geoff Wolfe  used to work for Skyleader at one time ...  Here is  his web page Flying steam engines  I think you will find  very interesting, but  i'm afraid he is not able to update .. http://flysteam.co.uk/compair.htm   Pics here of  original  condition when found before refurb of airframe & recovering .. The Engine is a Webra 61R  this was cleaned up,  Not dismantled.. I used a heat gun to heat up the engine  to soften the  old  caster  residue, removed the glow plug  (still worked)  & added after run oil  to the top of the piston though the exhaust port & carb  slowly turning over the engine,  I then added glow fuel  though the carb this really loosened the engine up,  using more

R/C Westland Wyvern

My modified  Westland Wyvern  R/c model 1/6th(just under ) Standoff scale flying over the South Downs UK on finals  landing approach..   The engine is a Laser 300V f/s   Custom retracts are very near scale, These were made for me by an model engineering  friend John Pace ..   This model is a reworking of my first  ARTF  by Black Horse models  .. pretending to be an S4 Wyvern , but in fact its a low back  T1 fuz with a  S4 cowling,  jet exhaust outlet, canopy, & mk2 wing layout ..                Sporting new Static contra rotating Propellers 8 blades  Placed 3rd in stand off scale 2015 BMFA national, although I had the Highest flight score of the S/O class modified ARTFs can't compete with built models as the rules are stand at present..    at the prize giving  Bmfa Chairman  Chris Moynihan gave me his  personal thanks for impressing the dignities that    he was escorting  around the Nationals Scale flight line during my 3rd flight ..
