I had been ask to help sort though a loft full of vintage models & engines  Of a good friend of mine  who is now no longer able to take part in this hobby,   One of the the models found is this Skyleader  skymaster,  this may have been one ex  Skyleader display team aircraft  as Geoff Wolfe  used to work for Skyleader at one time ...  Here is  his web page Flying steam engines  I think you will find  very interesting, but  i'm afraid he is not able to update ..http://flysteam.co.uk/compair.htm

Pics here of  original  condition when found before refurb of airframe & recovering .. The Engine is a Webra 61R  this was cleaned up,  Not dismantled.. I used a heat gun to heat up the engine  to soften the  old  caster  residue, removed the glow plug  (still worked)  & added after run oil  to the top of the piston though the exhaust port & carb  slowly turning over the engine,  I then added glow fuel  though the carb this really loosened the engine up,  using more glow fuel  I  flushed  out the gung..

Mounted the engine in a test stand  refitted the original plug, a flick it was running once again ...
Removed the old Skyleader servos   and yes they still work ok ... Refitted replacement Futaba servos  & Spektrum 2.4 rx ....

stripped off the covering & repaired Balsa frame & recovered tailplane using solarfilm..

Paul Brewer was the re maiden Pilot As he is currently flying the one one right

Myself  showing the Original Team logo I did not remove  the lower wing covering

link below to flight it... was  a windy day video taken from my phone forgot to Zoom,  sorry for that & I missed the start of the flight too,   as the video was an after thought  of mine during the early part of the maiden flight as it started well ..
.. The under carriage needs to have cross struts fitting  as it is very springy..

R/C Westland Wyvern

My modified  Westland Wyvern  R/c model 1/6th(just under ) Standoff scale flying over the South Downs UK on finals  landing approach..   The engine is a Laser 300V f/s   Custom retracts are very near scale, These were made for me by an model engineering  friend John Pace ..   This model is a reworking of my first  ARTF  by Black Horse models  .. pretending to be an S4 Wyvern , but in fact its a low back  T1 fuz with a  S4 cowling,  jet exhaust outlet, canopy, & mk2 wing layout ..                Sporting new Static contra rotating Propellers 8 blades  Placed 3rd in stand off scale 2015 BMFA national, although I had the Highest flight score of the S/O class modified ARTFs can't compete with built models as the rules are stand at present..    at the prize giving  Bmfa Chairman  Chris Moynihan gave me his  personal thanks for impressing the dignities that    he was escorting  around the Nationals Scale flight line during my 3rd flight ..

Pete Builds the Pica P 51 - D Mustang

Pica 1/5th near scale Mustang build  part one    Back in 2020 the start of  Covid lock down  I dug the Two 1/5th scale Pica kits I had tucked away in my garage One being the Mustang the other a Spitfire kit  bought years earlier, as I had just completed a 1/6th Mick Reeves MK16 spitfire  I choose to start the Mustang, some two years later  I  got to run up the Moki 210  Engine   in the  garden..  so here are pics taken during my build  not blow by blow,   Maybe not in the correct order, I  spent hours looking at Mustang pics & forums  and I came across  a complete  Mustang Build topic on  RCU build by Szempruw link   I found this to be of great help during my build, I know much about Spitfires, Hurricanes & Wyverns  etc,  If you read  my blog of  models I have built & they have all flown..  Very little Knowledge regards Mustangs  I never intended to do as much detail as I have, although  the cockpit is very sparse as regards all the levers & trimmings  can't be
